Human centered design conference
A ONE DAY CONFERENCE CELEBRATING HUMAN CONNECTION THROUGH DESIGN
AIGA — KCAI HUMAN-CON 2020 is a human-centred design conference, which targets emerging artists and design students. The aim of the conference is creating a reachable, totally free from profit, and collaborative environment. One day long design conference hosted three speaking sessions featuring freelance designers Tom and Lyn Morse-Brown; Founder and CEO of Crema, George Brooks; and VMLY&R’s Director of DEI, Subashini Nadarajah and VMLY&R designer, Selina Kendall. Also, included two workshop sessions hosted by entrepreneur, John Bielenberg; and Senior Design Manager at Cerner, Jay Vaglio. A lean-coffee discussion session was led by designer at Cerner, Chris Magee-Jenks.
Designers of visual identity of the human centered design conference, HUMAN-CON, are Jessica Bee, Ipek Pelit and Alex Lee Duncan and with leadership of Adam Swift Lucas and assistance of Andrea Herstowski. Designers received the AIGA KC grant, $1000 award and supplied conference’s budget. Proudly, HUMAN-CON is the first student organized design conference in Kansas City Art Institute.
The brand identity of human centered design conference was created by humans. The graphics for HUMAN-CON consist of vectorized, hand-drawn assets. As a collaborative work of 11 AIGA KCAI graphic designers’ 226 illustrations of face parts: eyes, noses, mouths and ears which helps us to communicate and supports the communication between professionals and emerging artists and students.
This conference includes promotional items design such as silkscreen printed bags, VIP invitation cards, booklets, buttons, handouts and poster, way finding elements, also social media and web design.
